NYCYPAA blog Mission Statement

The NYCYPAA blog is a place where members of Alcoholics Anonymous in NYC (and surrounding areas) can extend the reach of their twelfth step work. The NYCPAA blog is written and edited solely by members of Alcoholics Anonymous.

The function of the NYCYPAA blog is to communicate the experience, strength, and hope of its contributors and to reflect the diversity of experience getting and staying sober. We accept submissions from AAs of all ages though our focus is on stories of young alcoholics.

NYCYPAA is aware that every AA member has a unique way of working the program. Stories posted to the NYCYPAA blog are not intended to be statements of AA policy, nor does posting of any story imply endorsement by either AA or NYCYPAA.

Editorial Policy

In determining the editorial content for the NYCYPAA blog, the editors rely on the principles of the Twelve Traditions.

The heart of the NYCYPAA blog is in the shared experience of individual AA members working the AA program and applying the spiritual principles of the Twelve Steps. Yet what works for one individual or AA group may not always work for another. For this reason, the NYCYPAA blog tries to embody the widest possible view of the AA Fellowship as it pertains to young people.

The NYCYPAA bylaws guarantee the NYCYPAA Editorial Committee’s right to accept or reject material for posting and editing of stories. While some editing is done for purposes of clarity, style, and length; NYCYPAA encourages all writers to express their own unique experience.

Submissions are invited, although no payment can be made.

Blog Submission Guidelines

Submissions can be sent by e-mail to literature@nycypaa.org.

The NYCYPAA blog couldn’t exist without you; please feel free to share. We are currently accepting submissions of first-person accounts of the writer’s experience with alcoholism and Alcoholics Anonymous. Stories should reflect AA’s primary purpose: to stay sober and to help another alcoholic to achieve sobriety.

Suggested story length is three to seven double-spaced pages. Include your first name, last initial, and sobriety date.

Submissions are reviewed by the Literature Chair and editors and selected by consensus. But all contributors receive a reply, whether their stories are posted or not.
